Lon, the only time I see metal warp like that is when it has gotten way too hot, Chargrills are normally made with very thin .040"- .055" CRS (cold rolled steel) which will warp with heat. The thicker the grill is made of the better. good luck.

I am currently building a 60gal propane smoker/grill if you care to see the progress visit my profile and check out my albums, nothing special, but I like working with metal. I use a 120 gal propane smoker now.

Marv,
I have looked at several but most builders will not let go of the secrets. I tried bribing a few with a brisket but they wouldnt budge...But I will keep looking. Thanks for the info and we will have to get together and do some cookin...

Richard, I am NO expert nor have teh answer. That sounds like a real nice grill. I was impresses with some of the s mokers withthe firebox on the back, running the whole legth o fhte main chaimer. Inside it, ther was a 1" air gap, greating a channel where the charcoal / logs burned in an oval. easy to maintain. Then you have the opportunity to place enought chanbers and vents to heat the whole chamber evenly. Have you searched them moster grills on the net? Good luck, and call us for dinner.

I was curious if anyone could tell me what size of firebox I need and maybe how to build it? My smoker is 6' long 24" in diameter. Made of 1/2" steel. The firebox on it now is 15" tall 24" deep and 10.5" wide . it seems to me that it is too small for this size pit. I just purchased this one so I would have more capacity then what I had. I removed it from the trailer it was on and put it on a new one. Once that had been done I fired it up and seemed like it burned out faster then my other upright smoker that is 7' feet tall 2' wide and 2' deep. The fire box on that one is 2'x2'x2' and it stays at temperature for approx 6 hours without reload. On the other hand the new smoker never would regulate and seemed to have probs maintaining temperature. All advise on this issue welcomed...Thanks Guys

I have a 15 year old char-broil water smoker. I have always had a problem with the charcoal pan. No air can get to it, on long cooks the pan fills with ash. Wondering if anyone had tips.

@Lon: Thanks for the temperature tip. That's handy to have.
