Chris, found this on a blog site, hope it helps.
2 Tbs Turbinado sugar w/3 drops liquid smoke
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
3/4 tsp Ancho pepper powder
1/4 tsp Cherry Jello mix

I run it thru the spice grinder to make the sugar and salt finer.

Keith... for a quick fix on rub, just go to your local store (or BBQ dealer) and get some. NOT SPICY ( you do not know their taste) Raul has a great point. Wow them with you, not your ribs. BUT...when you cook the ribs, get them "Fall off the bone tender" I usually cook them at 225 for 3-5 hours, then wrap them in foil, put them back to the grill for at least 2 hours in foil. then I glaze them on the direct heat grill in a LIGHT bbq sauce on the grill for 20 min. By light, I mean don't over power the taste of the ribs. they can always add more flavor, but can not take it away :)

Good luck, keep us posted on how it goes...

And if the future mother in law is rich?.... Raul and I get 10%

Keith, just a thought. Girlfriend's parents coming over for dinner is plenty of pressure. I'm not sure of your level of proficiency or comfort with ribs grilling, but perhaps "pretty good" or "real good" might be acceptable, vs best they ever had? I'm just speaking as a guy who's been married 3 times. The important thing is that you guys get along well and enjoy each other's company. There's a bit more to good 'cue than just the rub, so unless everything else is fantastic and you're just looking for the wow factor, then I'd say stick with what you're comfortable with. Otherwise, there are SO many options "rub-wise". Case in point: as a musician and a project manager, it's critical that I know my audience. So, do her parents like spicy foods or more mild? Start from there. That will tell you how much pepper and spices you'd even want to consider, or if a more basic rub would be better. Same goes for your sauce! I hope this helps and let us know if you want more input!! Best of luck to you! This is why people come here! :)

Can ome one please give me a good dry rub recipe. I am having the new girlfriends parents comming over for dinner and they love smoked ribs. I told them that I a am average griller, and I am, but I would love to knock them of their feet and give them the best ribs they ever had. Thank you for your help
